December 8, 2007: mame center launch party!
August 2008: mame center officially became non-profit organization!
mame center is a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
Having recently incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in New York State,
mame center plans on spending the first few months laying down the groundwork for
its future and growth in Ethiopia. Simultaneously, we will be putting in place all the necessary operational components in order to start its activities. At this stage, our volunteers already include two experienced artists on retainer, and we are already in the process of recruiting additional volunteers to join the project as teachers. In addition, we will also be hiring janitorial staff, cooks, and other support staff necessary for its day to day operations.
mame center is currently looking to lease appropriate facilities in Nazareth, Ethiopia. Upon completion of preliminary activities, we will purchase needed supplies, including basic school supplies, furniture, clothing, computers and educational materials.
